INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

EN 247-01 CERTIFICATION
SAKEM footwear can help improve general health conditions and offer the benefits discussed throughout the site only if used and maintained correctly in the manner described below. Manifatture Castello declines responsibility in case of misuse or poor and improper maintenance of its products. Any questions, doubts or concerns about the footwear, its utility, maintenance and grade of protection in the workplace should be directed to the safety manager of the machinery that you are working with. Further questions or concerns can be directed to us by e-mail, phone or mail.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PRESERVATION AND MAINTENANCE
Before putting on the footwear, verify that the laces and the arch support are accurately positioned.
The shoes should be cleaned with a soft-bristled brush and water. Do not ever use products containing alcohol, metiletilchetone, diluent, gas, petroleum, kerosene, or any other chemical substance to clean the shoes and inserts. These substances could damage the material and cause a weakening, though possibly not visible, to the quality of the insert and the footwear.

Keep the footwear clean and dry in an area that remains at room temperature.

Wet footwear should not ever the placed on a heater or heating system (especially not in the sun) to be dried but should be placed in an area that is room temperature and ventilated.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
It is recommended that you inspect the shoe each time before use and not use it if there is evident dysfunction or wear and tear that would affect the functionality of the product.

Confirm that the following function correctly before putting on your SAKEM:

  • The closure of the footwear
  • The thickness of the sole and inserts

LIFESPAN OF THE FOOTWEAR
Our products have been designed and constructed with components of the highest quality. The signs of wear-and-tear are congruent with the use and care of the shoe and vary depending upon the conditions of use in the work or home environment.

Because there are numerous factors that can influence the life of the footwear, it isn’t possible to say exactly how long they last.

In any case, the footwear should always be substituted when there is damage or extreme wear to the sole of the shoe.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE ANTI-STATIC FOOTWEAR
The antistatic footwear should be used when it is necessary to reduce to a minimum the accumulation of static electricity to thus reduce the risk of fire. For example, working in an environment where electric devices or other elements at risk are near substances that are flammable and vapours that may ignite with the contact of a spark. It is important to note that the footwear does not offer full protection against electric shocks since they only work to provide a barrier or protection between the foot and the sole of the shoe.

If the risk of electric shock has not been eliminated completely with the use of the footwear, additional safety measures, such as installing a new electric implant that is of EU regulation, is imperative.

These safety measures, in additional to the supplements provided by SAKEM, should be a standard part of the periodic controls for accident prevention in the workplace.

Experience has proven that, concerning anti-static, the path of discharge through a product should have in normal conditions a resistance inferior of 1,000 OM at any given moment during the life of the product.

The inferior limit of resistance of a new product has been defined as 100 KO; it assures protection against electric shock and fire hazard in the case that an electric apparatus presents defects with a tension of up to 250V.

Nevertheless, in certain conditions, the user should be informed that the protection provided by the footwear could be ineffective and other safety methods should also be used to protect the wearer at all times. The electric resistance of this type of footwear can be modified significantly by flexion, contamination or humidity. This type of footwear will not function if worn or kept in a humid environment.

In addition, it is necessary to confirm that the product is capable of functioning correctly in separating the static electricity and furnishing protection throughout the life of the product. It is recommended that the user conduct frequent tests to determine the level of electric resistance of the footwear on a regular basis.

If the footwear is used in conditions where the sole of the shoe can be contaminated, the users should always verify the electric property before entering a risk zone.
During the use, no isolating elements should exist between the arch support and the foot; it is necessary to verify also the electric properties of the shoe/insole combination.
